Here's the story:

My life forever changed on January 22nd, 2007.

It was the first day of my first clinic rotation and I was finally ready to start helping patients (or so I thought). Not more than 8 hours later that excitement had quickly vanished & turned to feelings of overwhelm, disappointment, and confusion.

I saw 43 patients in one day!

That's when I knew I'd be starting my cash practice and avoiding insurance at all costs.

I told my clinical instructor about my plans and I'll never forget his knee-jerk response: "Nobody will pay more than their copay for PT."

That was the best piece advice I ever got from him because for many years those words pushed me.

I graduated in December 2008, and launched my cash practice right away even though I had a baby due in 2 months.

7 months later, I was making more money—and treating way less—than what the insurance clinic offered me ($90k per year plus benefits & relocation bonus).

I filled my schedule without paying for social media ads, hiring a website designer, or accepting insurance... even after a local sports MD told me "I've heard great things about you and I'd send you patients if you only took their insurance."

I remember staying up late nights writing blogs, posting on forums, submitting my business to 100's of website directories, updating the meta data, writing dozens of articles for E-Zine Articles, HubSpot, Medium, & for the local newspaper and health magazines.

I also attended dozens of networking events & meetings...

I even paid $1,200 for a pile of 8x11 prescription pads (which are still sitting in my closet), wrote an evaluation summary for each patient, and hand delivered them to all of their physicians.

Looking back, I can see most of what I did was a complete waste of time & effort.

What took me 5 years to achieve is now taking my coaching clients only 8 to 12 months (you can see some of their stories below).

Anyway, by 2012, colleagues, classmates, and PTs all over the United States started contacting me & asking how I did it and would I teach my system to them (including many of the big names you probably know).
